Monster Mayhem Slots

Monster Mayhem Slots

Don't panic - the monsters are firmly contained within the reels of this slot game. We've played monster slots before, but is this one of the best or does it let us down? There is much to get through in this review, so we are going to get underway here to find out more about what's to come.

Developer reveal

This is one of the earlier games to come out of the RTG stable. You might guess they're behind it when you first see it, as it has their familiar early look in action.

Don't miss the demo game

It's the best way to experience it all and to see if you're ready to face the monsters.

You can work out the theme here, can't you?

Yes, it does revolve around monsters, offering plenty of other cartoonish icons to support the idea of monsters getting loose and stomping around in a city.

A cool design in play

You'll meet a policeman - trying to get the monsters under control, we guess - and see searchlights, crushed cars, fire hydrants spurting water everywhere, and a city in flames. It's all happening in this game!

How to play the Monster Mayhem slot

If you thought there would be five reels and three rows of symbols, you were spot on with that part. The game comes with two progressive jackpots as well, easy to keep track of as they sit above the reels.

If we reveal that the game has two wilds, you might suspect they're both monsters. That is the case here, and they go by the names Smash and Crash. They only land on the first and fifth reels. Better still, you can use them to replace everything else that might land on the same spin - and that includes the scatter, which is an image of the city.

How many lines does the game have?

There are 50 in this one, so it has way more than many other RTG slots from the same era.

Place your wagers before you begin

Your coin values go from one penny to one dollar, so you've got plenty of variations in there when looking to bet on all 50 lines.

Don't miss the cartoon paytable

Spread over several pages, it shows you all the symbols in play, gives their prize values, and explains more about the game - which is what we're going to do next.

No bonuses to get here

The Monster Mayhem slot doesn't have any bonus rounds.

Free spins do feature though

You need to find Smash on reel one and Crash on reel five to unlock some free spins. You can receive up to 10 in this feature. The triggering wilds stay where they landed during the games. You might also receive more, of course.

Rather than offering a standard multiplier across all the games, the first spin begins with a 1x multiplier. It then increases by 1x for each game, so if you manage to get all 10 spins on offer, you'd get a 10x multiplier for the last one if you scoop any prizes in that game.

RTP details for Monster Mayhem

As with lots of other games from this developer, the return to player information is absent. We can guess at around 95%, but this is not certain.

Our rating: Did we like the Monster Mayhem slot game?

We did, and despite it being a few years old now, it stands up well thanks to the free spins, the two wilds, and the increasing multiplier feature. Enough to earn 8/10, don't you think?

What is the best fixed prize worth?

Other than the progressive jackpots, the monster footprint has the best payouts in the game. Five of these on the same paid line will give you 2,500x your bet for that line.

Play safely in demo mode first

It makes sense to explore the game as a practice version before deciding to play with real bets in action. Covering all the lines would mean you'd have a 50-cent minimum bet, so the demo is the easiest way to see what you think of it first.

Play for real if you want to meet Smash and Crash

Obvious names for monsters, yes, but you can look out for them in the paid version of the game if you want some wild assistance.

Is it available on mobile devices?

As an older game this may not be available in mobile casinos. It's best kept for a session on your computer.
